Message I just finished up my 120k after what seems like forever. Here are the pics.

Me getting started

Some clean rear covers

Timing belt all lined up (counted cogs) after 2 and a half complete turns of the crank

My horrible mistake. The paint turned out WAY too bright. It was supposed to be red but came out orange compared to my existing engine paint. Thankfully, I had a change to change them AFTER it was all back together. Read on for more info.

My brand new Unorthodox Racing underdrive crank pulley along with my H.I. overdrive water pump pulley

I started her up after I finished and I heard a horrible sound. It sounded like scraping and howling. I shut her off, made a few calls, and Joe (spddracer) had me pry back my timing belt cover to take a peek. What I found led me me having to start all over.

Here is the culprit. I accidentally put the front washer on backwards. The write-up was sort of vague in the description. I just got confused by the wording and it led to a lot more down time than expected.

Ah, that's better

In the end, I just threw on my other set of covers. I had had enough by that time and didn't care about aesthetics anymore. I'm sure I'll get another chance knowing these cars.

While I was there, I decided to investigate my sticky throttle. Last time I drove it, it wouldn't stop accelerating while going down hill and I was coming up to a red light fast. I had to press the brake (while having the equivalent of the gas pressed) until I could slow down enough to throw it in neutral and turn it off on the side of the road. Turns out the metal tube is starting to come loose from the intake valve cover and was causing the linkage to catch on it. This is only a temporary fix.

Never Play Leapfrog With A Unicorn!!!

Do yourself a favor and just worry about your own car. I don't see what everyone is so worried about anyway. If someone else wants to perform a modification that you believe will destroy the value, cheapen the Z32 or whatever you can't sit on your hands about, wouldn't that make your tastefully-modified, white bread Z32 more rare and valuable? -- BradZ (FL) on December 23, 2007 at 12:19 PM
